So! This guy is a Jedi. And like any Jedi worth his salt, Obi-Wan possesses some control over this super neat thing some people call the Force.
But what even is the Force, you ask! Well, to put it shortly, it's duct tape ascended to a higher plane of existence: the Force possesses a Light Side, and a Dark Side, and holds the life energy of the universe together, interconnecting all that exists in one omnipresent bond. It's everywhere and it's in everything. Which is an access that can be extremely useful in a myriad number of ways, if you know how to use it!
But abusing Force privileges left and right would be terribly rude! And he's a pretty polite guy, but he may have his moments. Which is where this permissions post comes to play: as the Force can grant a Jedi access to some fairly invasive factors in relation to other characters, this is your chance as a player to let me know what's Okay and Not Okay for Obi-Wan to do at any given time. The chances are high that I will ask first regardless, but references are always good; below is a laundry list of notable abilities!

Can Obi-Wan push your character around?
Oh, never verbally! But maybe somewhat telekinetically. A staple feature of the Force is the ability to lift and move anything from a glass of water to an entire starship without physical contact, regardless of weight, and people fall squarely in the middle of that range. Obi-Wan may utilize this in a fight, to throw an enemy and gain an opening, but he might also tap into it offhand to get someone out of the way in other usually-dangerous situations. Is this kosher?
Can Obi-Wan have a chat about your feelings without getting slapped?
Actually nobody's ever slapped him for digging around in their feelings before that'd be really funny come to think of it BUT ANYWAY... Obi-Wan can passively sense the emotions of anybody nearby that doesn't already have psychic shielding of some sort. Generally this is something he makes no effort to turn off, as he can tune in and out as he pleases and empathy is just one of many insights that a connection to the Force gains you. However, be it interrogating or simply offhand, he may remark on any particularly strong feelings your character's having at the time, and can pull off a limited form of mind reading by extrapolating from the emotions he picks up if he feels like it. Can Obi-Wan talk about your character's feelings? Can he pick up on your character's emotions at all? If your character has no shielding, but you'd still prefer to opt-out of a feelings jam in any form, that's quite alright! We can handwave something about universe discrepancies affecting the range of the Force.
Can Obi-Wan casually convince your character that these aren't the droids you're looking for?
Ah, the Jedi mind trick. Obi-Wan has quite a knack for it, and while he certainly won't be throwing it around 24-7, there may be times when he deems it necessary, and could attempt it on anyone. The Jedi mind trick utilizes verbal Force suggestion and a subtle gesture of a hand; those placed under the trick's influence are told what to do and obey it to the letter, breaking free from the trance only after the fact and vaguely wondering why they did it. However it only really works on those weak of mind, easily persuaded, or especially prone to following orders--and alien species with naturally well-structured mental faculties are immune by default. Is it okay for Obi-Wan to attempt to trick your character, if the need arises? How successful would he be? Generally Obi-Wan can tell whether he's dealing with a strong mind or a weak one, but it's possible he'll underestimate (which pretty much guarantees amusingly awkward results)
How heavy on darkness is your character?
No, he doesn't really have anything against an all-black wardrobe, if that's just how your character rolls--but, being a practitioner of the Light Side of the Force, Obi-Wan's ability to perceive things through it becomes more limited and clouded when there's something steeped in dark power within his vicinity. In canon practitioners of the Dark Side are the worst culprits, naturally. Similarly, if your character possesses a supernatural innate ability or weapon that is considered 'dark' by their canon and/or is powered by dark connotations (war, strong selfish emotions, suffering, death, general things that are Not Good or even Evil), Obi-Wan might find his connection to the Force getting a lot of radio disturbance whenever he's around you. The stronger the dark presence, the more limited his Force perception becomes; however, if your character is especially good at concealing their darkness in some way, he may not be able to actually pin down the source of this disturbance properly (eg Darth Sidious running around as innocuous oldman Supreme Chancellor in front of hordes of Jedi for literal years undetected).
Aaand on the flip side, those with supernatural innate abilities or weapons that are considered 'light' by their canon (life-sustaining, pure, subsists on emotional clarity, Nice Things etc) can help clear up any darkness in his Force perception somewhat, and Obi-Wan will also find the presence mentally stabilizing to be around; again, if well-concealed, he might not be able to find the source.
So, what darkness/lightness has your character got in their pocketses? And how well-hidden is it?And now, a textbox for your convenience!
